How To Check Rotor Housings
Submitted On: December 19, 2006, 5:29 amThis week’s video shows how to examine your rotor housings to see if they are usable for rebuilding your motor. There are many people who rebuild their engines with used, junk rotor housings, and they wonder why there engine does not have the life as the original factory motor did. We strongly recommend replacing your rotor housings, although if your housings are in great shape you can replace them.
We will dive into the details on how to examine your rotor housings, and what the specifications are. Included are some pictures from the Mazda Factory Rebuild Manual for your viewing also. If you find your housings has several damages we have shown on this video, they are probably not a good candidate for rebuilding your motor. If you have any questions please feel free to ask questions on our forum. Hopefully you will find this information useful, if you need replacement rotor housings because yours is junk, contact a local rotary engine shop. Now, at least, you’ll know what to look for.
